For the past year, i’ve been hearing wonderful things about olive kitteridge by elizabeth strout, and i finally had the chance to read it this week for my neighborhood book group. In olive kitteridge she created a character so vital, so funny, so exasperating and yet so winning that olive lights up a story even when she is only glimpsed in the distance, a hand waved over her. The structure of the novel is 13 episodic stories, which provide a candid and searching insight into a small community in the coastal town of crosby in maine.
